Esports has made its first TV appearance on ESPN back in 2015, it was no surprise that the network faced some criticism from traditional sports fans. However, this hasn't stopped sports channels from incorporating competitive gaming in their line up year after year. With professional football and basketball franchises such as the Patriots and Golden State Warriors picking up esports franchises, the legitimacy of esports is ever increasing. This panel will provide detailed explanations on the differences and parallels between what we have traditionally recognized as sports and how esports falls within the realm of professional competition.
